Altocumulus fallstreak (punch hole?) not round but linear shows two types of Altocumulus clouds facing each other. Between them, there is a little cloud condensation, exactly as with a typical hole punch cloud. But it is not round. It was photographed in Denmark on July 7, 2010, above Odense city at 7.53 pm local time.
The reason why this fallstreak is not round or elliptical could very well be, that it is not a fallstreak or a “hole punch cloud” of any kind. It may be coincidental that a lone cloud that seems to be Cirrus is right there at the given time?
Altocumulus fallstreak punch hole with Cirrus in the middle?
It is uncertain if the little cloud is part of a weather phenomenon here. It seems to be another cloud type than the Altocumulus cloud cover. Maybe a small Cirrus with its long strokes? I think it´s odd that the small cloud seems to be totally alone.
Altocumulus are mid-level clouds and they do not come higher than 20.000 feet. Cirrus clouds start at 18.000 feet and go to 45.000 feet. They can probably meet at the same altitude and interact with each other. Well, I am no weather expert or meteorologist, so feel free to comment if you know what this is? If it is something at all?
Two types of Altocumulus compositions
Here you see the two Altocumulus “fronts” facing each other. The two different compositions are clearly visible.
These articles about meteorology and weather (and contrails), in general, is not me trying to explain a lot of technical meteorological stuff. It is solely for the sake of the weather photos I want to show to the world.
