Large unknown drones has now been seen in Denmark above a harbor in Køge city Friday night around 10:30 PM Danish time on January 3, 2025. A police patrol that had been called to the scene saw four drones. A citizen that had called the police said he had seen up to twenty drones in the air above Køge Marina.
On Saturday morning, the police still do not know much about the unknown drones that were observed at the harbor in Køge, also called Køge Marina. Asger Bechstrøm, chief of duty at the Central and West Zealand Police, says they do not know what the purpose of the drones was, where they came from, how many there were and who their owner is? The last drones were seen around 1:16 AM, when they disappeared over the sea at high speed, police said in a press release on Saturday.
No permit for drone flying in the area
Asger Bechstrøm emphasizes that flying drones is not illegal in itself, however, it may be if you fly close to private land. He also says that at Køge Marina you must have written permission to fly drones. And we spoke with the marina on Friday night, and they have not given any written permission for drone flights, says Asger Bechstrøm.
Drone type and their activities can indicate whether illegal activities are involved. The Central and West Zealand Police have been in contact with several other authorities in this case. It is not clear which authorities are involved.
The police have contacted the Danish Armed Forces
However, the police have contacted the Danish Armed Forces, but since the unknown drones “were spotted over land”, the Danish Armed Forces consider it a police matter, and the Danish Armed Forces do not have an ongoing investigation into the case. But that is actually a little strange, because the drones flew out into the sea and disappeared there and it must tell something about their origin, they must have come from the sea.
Maybe we should investigate which ships there were in the area at that time and see if there were any Russian ships coincidentally. Maybe the Russian shadow fleet has a hand in this case?
Air traffic perceived as drones?
There is a lot of air traffic in the area in connection with Kastrup Airport. Many passenger planes fly in over Køge to land in Kastrup. In the video below which presumably shows the mentioned drones, you can see some lights in the sky. But in reality it could be airplanes with landing lights on.
A light in the sky is not much when it is just a light. It could be anything that is flying, also drones of course. But if a foreign power like Russia were to fly drones over our country, would they do so with their lights on? There’s no point in using lights on the drones if you’re there to spy I think?
But, if the citizen that called the police saw up to “twenty drones” flying, it cannot be airplanes all of them. There must have been something else than ordinary passenger air traffic. The story does not tell anything about how these 20 drones was identified by the citizen. It does not tell anything about what they looked like or if they had lights on? The police patrol that was called to the scene managed to see four of the drones they said. They called them drones actually, not air planes, so they must have had a reason to call them that.
