Vertical UAP reveals impossible sunlight reflection (UFO Denmark 2009)

Vertical UAP reveals impossible sunlight reflection is about an unidentified aerial phenomenon, UFO activity, that unfolded above Denmark on December 19th, 2009, just after noon. One photo reveals a misty light hovering in the middle of a contrail. Another photo I shot 14 minutes later probably shows the same anomaly, now much clearer with the blue sky as background (see image below). This strange object does not reflect sunlight as expected, which leads me to believe this vertical UAP is somehow creating an impossible displaced sunlight reflection on the object’s surface.

In this case, the sun shines from the left. That means all surfaces facing left will be hit by sunlight and reflect it more or less. The picture above shows the vertical UAP against a blue sky. It seems non-reflective on the surface pointing towards the Sun (left), and the surface that points away from the Sun (right) lights up? How can an object be darkened on the side pointing towards the sun? Where is the expected sunlight reflection?

I did not have a live UFO sighting here. I took the photos and later found the strange light phenomenon. It is a very small object in the photos, but because of relatively high resolution and a great photosensor, we have some useful and interesting UAP imagery of this highly unusual anomaly. Now let’s take it from the very beginning…

Misty light appears in aviation contrail in broad daylight

The weather was perfect for some cloud photography. A blue sky as background in broad daylight always makes white clouds and aviation contrails appear clear and beautiful in the photos. And that was the actual reason for this photoshoot. The first photo I shot at 01:08:10 pm shows an aviation contrail that has spread out in the sky. There is no vertical UAP to be seen, just a blue sky with a large contrail; see image below (click image to enlarge).

18 seconds later, at 01:08:28 pm, I take another photo of the same contrail. Now, an unknown object in the form of a misty light has appeared in the middle of that contrail; see below (click image to enlarge).

Aviation contrail with the blue sky as background and with the UAP

You can clearly see there is a misty light (the UAP) in the second image above, but where did it come from? Suddenly, there is a light in the sky in broad daylight in the middle of an aviation contrail?

Vertical UAP reveals impossible sunlight reflection

The picture below is unedited but a cropped and magnified version of the misty light in the aviation contrail above. This light phenomenon, or the UAP, is behind fog from the contrail it is hiding in; therefore, it is a bit foggy in the image. I can see the object is slightly elongated vertically, which is quite unusual. But what is even more unusual is the light and the way it behaves. This vertical UAP reveals an impossible sunlight reflection. The left side, where the sunlight hits, seems to be in shadow, and the right side is bright?

Misty light in the sky slightly elongated vertically.

One should think that the Sun shines from the right, but it does not; it shines from the left. The bright side of this object can therefore not be a reflection of sunlight since the Sun shines from the left, unless it displaces the sunlight reflection. My immediate thought here is that there is a missing reflection from sunlight on the left side of this object. The vertical UAP seems to bend light or somehow move around with the sunlight reflection.

Vertical UAP with its own source of light?

There is a light in the sky captured on photography and visible to all, but then it gets complicated. Does this vertical UAP displace the reflection from the Sun, or does the anomaly have its own source of light? If the object emits its own light, it must be pretty strong since it is visible in broad daylight while bathed in sunlight. This is not a tiny flash but a large glare compared to an aircraft’s flashing lights, which you only see at dusk or when it is dark.

Light/shadow relation with sunlight (illustration).

Whether it has its own light source or moves around with the reflection of sunlight is irrelevant. Both are equally strange and difficult to explain, and I find it amazing that I can get all that out of a picture with a misty light. Looking at the light/shadow relation to sunlight in real UAP photos is always interesting. It must be a call to others with daylight photos of unknown objects to take a closer look at the relationship between light, shadow, and reflections.

UAP visible against the deep blue sky

Since I did not have a live UFO sighting, I took a short break from the photography. Then, 14 minutes later at 01:22:38 pm, I shot another photo. And that photo shows that the vertically elongated UAP has now moved across the sky, out of the contrail, and is now visible against the deep blue sky. The very first picture at the start of the article shows that. And this illustration shows the path of the anomalous phenomenon, starting at point A and traveling to point B in 14 minutes. We are looking southwest in the photo, and the UAP moves in a northern direction.

Anomaly followed a non-ecliptic path

The misty light in the aviation contrail and the vertical UAP with the blue sky as background were photographed with a 14-minute interval. The first photo was shot at 01:08:28 pm, the third and last photo at 01:22:38 pm, just before the object went over our house. It seems that this anomaly slowly traveled a non-ecliptic path from a southwestern direction towards a northeastern direction. And that is a much different path than the ecliptic, which the Sun, Moon, planets, and Zodiac tend to follow in the sky.

The altitude of the anomaly is unknown. In the first photo, it seems to be behind or inside fog from the aviation contrail, and that must be between cruising altitudes of 26,000 and 42,000 feet. In the next photo, 14 minutes later, the UFO seems to be very high up since it is very small in the photo. It is only visible because of the relatively high resolution my Sony A-100 DSLR camera could offer.

There were no celestial bodies visible in the southwestern sky at that time, just after noon (Stellarium).

Senior climatologist John Cappelen (DMI)

I remember writing to John Cappelen at DMI (Danish Meteorological Institute) about this light-related anomaly. It could be all the way back to 2018 when I first wrote this article that I contacted him by email. Unfortunately, I lost this email conversation in the midst of time, but he replied, and he did not know what it was. So, a senior climatologist at DMI had no explanation for this light anomaly in the sky.

High-resolution photos

I used a Sony A-100 DSLR Camera with a Sony standard zoom lens 3.5-5.6/18-70mm attached. The image resolution is 3872×2592 pixels (12 MP).
