Cigar-shaped UFO in a stunning display above Denmark is one of my best UFO photos to date. It shows three events in one image: the mysterious elongated object itself, a passing aircraft, and the Sun halo as background. It was captured while shooting a series of pictures of a Sun halo seen in Denmark on October 9, 2009, at 01.37 pm Danish time above Odense city. I did not see the cigar-shaped UFO during the photography, only afterwards.
So, I didn’t see anything strange fly by in front of me between the camera and the sun halo while I was taking the photos. It would probably also be impossible to see a faintly whitish luminous object passing by with the sun in my eyes. I saw the aircraft making the contrail and took some photos of that, but I was quickly blinded by the sun, and stopped my photo session after taking only 8 images. The picture above is a cropped area of the original photo processed with Auto Tone filter in Adobe Photoshop to sharpen it up a bit.
Stunning display with cigar-shaped UFO
The photography was done with the camera on a tripod pointing towards south and the stunning display with the sun halo. The photo I shot at 01:37:04 pm shows no cigar-shaped UFO, but 8 seconds later, at 01:37:12 pm, in the next photo, the elongated UFO appears. And 8 seconds later at 01:37:20 pm, the object has disappeared. So it had a time frame of under 16 seconds to move across the sky in front of me.
Unfortunately, I saw nothing in those 16 seconds and therefore cannot tell anything about the flight direction. The elongated object probably also passed in a shorter time frame than 16 seconds. Besides looking through the viewfinder before each photo was taken, I also observed the stunning display in the sky. And if a slow object was passing, I would probably have noticed it. I heard no engine sound at all besides the background noise of city life.
I must have been incredibly lucky to capture the cigar-shaped UFO on photo in the exact moment it passed.
Cigar-shaped UFO looks like a pressure tank
The popular term for this type of elongated unidentified flying object is normally cigar-shaped UFO, but is this designation correct for this specific object? Image processing in Adobe Photoshop shows that the shape of the object seems to be more like a pressure tank than cigar-shaped.
There are nice roundings at both ends, exactly like the shape of a typical pressure tank. But it is not a perfect straight-lined pressure tank shape since it looks like it has a little bend downwards on top to the left.
So, after some heavy image processing with different filters in Photoshop, I got the result you see in the above picture. It shows clearly that there is a physical elongated object in the sky.
Cloud manifestation or lens flare?
A cloud cannot condense and manifest into what we see here and disappear again in such a short time frame (16 seconds). Unbelievable things can form in the sky based on condensation (thickening) in the meteorological sense, but not so fast.
A lens flare caused by the Sun is relatively transparent (if not too close to the Sun in the photo). The elongated object in this article is not transparent in any way. I found a good example to compare with in the above picture. It is a solar lens flare that actually looks a bit like the cigar-shaped UFO. This flare is transparent, and you can see the contrail through it.
Based on the fact that I had the camera on a tripod pointing towards the same spot with only a minor change to the angle, it cannot be an optical reflection or lens flare. They would have been visible in all the photos.
Balloon or airship?
A balloon or airship would have been in most of the 8 photos. My photo session ended after only a few minutes, and I would have seen a balloon in the sky if there had been one. I was blinded by the Sun, yes, but not totally blind, and was able to see both the halo and the airplane while photographing. There were absolutely no balloons in the sky that day.
Massive Sun Halo in the sky
It all happened on a day the sky was covered with a thin veil of high-altitude clouds, cluttered with remnants of aviation contrails from air traffic. Around 1.30 pm, I looked out my window in a westerly direction. Up to my left in a southern direction, I saw a stunning display with this massive halo around the Sun. The picture below shows the halo in grayscale.
Since it was the first time I had the opportunity to shoot some photos of a Sun halo with my new DSLR camera, I hurried down to our backyard, attached the camera to a tripod, and took 8 pictures with short intervals. But I was quickly blinded by the Sun, and my photo session was quickly settled. I did see the airplane clearly, but not the unidentified elongated object.
External cigar-shaped UFO footage
Think I first learned the terminology cigar-shaped UFO through the reading of some George Adamski books in the 80´s. Later, I went on the internet searching for videos and found a film from 1967 that shows such a type of elongated UFO hovering. I also found the video from Salida in Colorado. It was a piece of footage recorded on August 27, 1995, with a so-called cigar-shaped UFO hovering high in the sky.
